Christie’s Arbiter of Style: Campion Platt
No stranger to the importance of detail in design, Campion Platt’s work seamlessly merges his architectural background with an aesthetic that highlights luxury in everyday living. His interior design speaks for itself, but his creative and elegant approach definitely has others talking – he has been ranked on Architectural Digest’s “AD 100” list of the world’s top interior designers and New York Magazine’s “The City’s 100 Best Architects and Decorators.” The accolades are no doubt due, in part, to his innovative and prolific pursuits. Campion has recently launched a custom furniture company and released a new book, Made to Order, which features some of his firm’s most inspiring projects. With a signature style that combines classic beauty with timeless luxury, this month’s Arbiter of Style takes us through his top picks from the upcoming Interiors sale.
The best part of my day is… waking up to my wife and kids!
One of my favorite sources of inspiration is… sitting on airplane or by a fireplace for that needed quiet time to become inspired.
Luxury is… creating and having the time to enjoy those special things.
Christie’s Interiors are ideal shopping destinations for… anybody designing or looking to redo an interior; there is always something to suit every taste and budget.
One of my current design obsessions is… driftwood furniture (I have an interested client).
My signature style is… classic modern with a twist of luxury.
The last book I read was…. Sun in a Bottle by Charles Seife. I am a closet physicist.
The designer whose work inspires me most is… William Morris, a man way before his time.
Advice I’d offer to someone looking to redo their interiors is… always consider color as a simple way to change a room’s atmosphere.
The first step when starting a new design project should be…. find a story, a theme, a thread, a continuous thought that can be the backbone of the design.
