V&M.com’s Design in Tell: Sneak Peak of MADE TO ORDER, written by Campion Platt

On October 19, 2010, the new book from interior designer Campion Platt, Made To Order, will be available for sale. The book lavishly illustrates the principles of Platt’s work with 200 illustrations spread among the book’s 232 pages.

Platt’s architecture and interiors use clean and simple design coupled with an embrace of color, beautifully crafted millwork, and environmentally friendly materials.  Each project, over the firm’s 20 year history, reflects the governing principals of its founder.  Campion’s belief in made to order and bespoke environments at all levels can be seen not only in the photographs of each project but in the well crafted architectural drawings and renderings that accompany them.  The book also provides tips and ideas to help people practice the “Platt approach” on their own.

Platt founded his firm in 1990, which has become a leader in boutique hotel design and is renowned for its highly customized interiors.  Architectural Digest has named him to its AD100 list of top designers, and New York magazine pronounced him one of “The City’s Best Architects and Decorators.”  His work is featured regularly in Elle Decor, Gotham, Travel + Leisure, Wallpaper, and other leading design magazines.

Campion’s firm has completed projects for stars like Al Pacino, Meg Ryan, Roger Waters, Conan O’Brien, Russell Simmons, Anne Hearst and his interiors can be seen in music videos from Jay-Z.

Campion Platt has many product lines including custom rugs, furniture, and textiles which can be seen on his company’s website http://campionplatt.com/.
