Jim Hanson
Creative Director
Jim Hanson’s obsession with the visual world began at the University of Minnesota and Birmingham University, England where he studied Theatrical Set Design and Art History and followed this with a certification in Interior Design from Parsons School of Design. He spent more than a decade traveling throughout the United States, Mexico and Europe before settling in New York’s Greenwich Village.
In addition to designing private residences for affluent clients throughout the United States, Jim has enjoyed the unique considerations of commercial projects, the challenge of exploring various possibilities and dealing with the practicalities of development, construction and installations at every scale. His experience in commercial design ranges from retail to resort. Projects include the public spaces for the residential tower at One Central Park (the AOL Time Warner building), the executive offices at Estee Lauder, three St. Regis Hotels, the public areas of a Ritz development in Atlanta, a restaurant for the Jean-George brand and a variety of theme cottages at Twin Farms Resort in Vermont. His projects have been featured in Architectural Digest, the New York Times Magazine, Time Out New York, House and Garden, Travel and Leisure and House Beautiful.
Before joining Campion Platt, Jim spent five years developing freelance projects, three years at David Easton and seven years at Thad Hayes. Working with these masters of American Design he polished his understanding of scale, proportion, suitability, and acquired a keen understanding of what makes a space luxurious and personal.
Jim’s work is focused, fresh, edited and filled with playful details. Function, comfort and quality are considerations for every space, every object and every project.
